Learning the basics

JUST HOW IMPORTANT IS THE BASIC???

Is this important? Yes! Simply because, it is the "fundamental", or your foundation, and I do believe in the saying "all difficult things starts with a basic". And the basic in terms of art is just simple, because all things being drawn are made up of, lines, squares, lines, curves. But of course different kinds of drawing requires training.

And I am very thankful, because of this BASICS my drawings have better than before, but I am not saying that I am a very great artist now. But I know that I am improving.

So far I am still practicing different angles, when I am drawing. looking of some references to draw and to practice enhancing my skills.

figure 1

Anyway, back to the topic. So Really, the basic is really important, and it cannot be missed. But sometimes, I draw without using the basics, and the result is not that good. Maybe the design is good, but in drawing a human figure, the basic proportion is essential. In the figure 1 you can see some sketches of mine, practicing to draw human figure in different angles, I tell you, things can be alot easier when the basic principles are applied in your drawing. Actually even professionals do the same in their arts.

This is the example of my drawing without applying the basics.

Figure 2

As you can see in the figure 2, the eyes are not aligned with the face, and the body is too long, there are many flaws, specially in the proportion of a human figure.

Figure 3
And here is an example of my sketch, wherein I drew here Dokuro Chrome from Katekyo Hitman Reborn with the application of some basics in drawing. As you can see in this figure 3, there are many lines, and circles, in this drawing, basically, drawing joints(lines) that connects the parts of the body. It also serves as the "Skeletal structure of the human figure."

And definitely, making the joints first can make your drawing, much more better, specially for beginners, this can be really helpful.

figure 4

Once the principles are applied, it will be much easier to draw. Just like this figure 4, I have found from google. That is a drawing started from lines, to shapes, and eventually the drawing itself.

Finally, if you want to learn more, and to improve your skills in arts, then I could suggest you to pratice, regularly. And of course, "Draw with your passion." You may also visit some online tutorials. There are tons of tutorials in the net, and I have learned many things thru online tutorials.
